The plum tree was healthy and full of leaves.
Behind it, the macadamia tree was still small.

When I planted these trees in hard clay, I dug semicircular trenches around them, about two spade-widths wide. I filled the trenches with organic material and then covered everything with soil. This helped the ground retain water for longer.

This is the same plum tree in the same place.
The macadamia behind it has grown into a large tree, but the plum tree has almost died.

I do not know the variety of the plum. The birds always ate the fruit before it could fully develop.

This is not a theory. This is the same reality across time.
